The Green Door is an iconic Napa institution. We suggest grabbing a drink, maybe make it a double, and then continue reading about us...... Napans Harold L. and Rose Marie Smith first opened the Green Door Cocktail Lounge back in 1961. By 1983, the bar was owned by Arthur Ciambetti, and in 1992 he sold the Green Door to Darrell Bressler. Darrell and his longtime companion Barbara Hanson ran and managed the bar. Darrell was a longtime (now known as) Cal Fire firefighter, Captain and Arson Investigator. He retired in 1995 as Division Chief after 30 years. He could be found leaning against the bar opening, duck hunting, or just generally being a solid guy. Barbara was instrumental in keeping the bar going and would greet regulars with a kind hello and cold drink. In 2023, Greg Medow stumbled upon the Green Door and instantly felt at home. His goal is to preserve this Napa gem and keep the throwback and old school vibes, while bringing in some more current products.... which aren’t from 1978!
